Product description
Microswitches are used to interrupt or close circuits through mechanical actuation. They are available in various sizes and can be installed wherever space is limited. The different versions allow adaptation to different actuation-force requirements.
The operating principle is simple: a movable contact spring is triggered by pressure or leverage and closes or opens a circuit. The low ohmic resistance of the normally open contact also permits higher currents without noticeable voltage losses. The size determines both the required actuation force and the available installation space.
Applications range from door contacts in enclosures and push-and-hold circuits in prototypes to limit switches in mechanisms. In motion sequences, they serve as position sensors, for example to signal that an end position has been reached. They also work in washing machine simulations or as push buttons in alarm and indicator systems.
Contact load limits depend on the selected version. Therefore, the datasheet specifications for the maximum switching voltage and maximum switching current should be observed. Installation is carried out by soldering onto circuit boards or by mounting in enclosures; additional cooling measures may be necessary for higher current loads.
