Description
Product Overview
- Protection board for a lithium-ion cell with a nominal voltage of 3.7 V
- Maximum discharge current of 2 A
- Integrated overcharge protection, over-discharge protection, and short-circuit protection
- Connection via solder pads or plug contacts for the cell and load
- Prevents overheating through internal circuitry
Product Description
This protection board protects a lithium-ion cell against the most important risks of damage during charging and operation. It continuously monitors the cell voltage and interrupts the power supply if the voltage rises above 4.2 V during charging or falls below 2.5 V during discharge. Another circuit disconnects the cell as soon as the discharge current exceeds 2 A or a short circuit occurs.
To connect it, solder or plug the cell into the input terminals, and connect the loads to the output terminals. The protection board itself does not require its own power connection and consumes only a minimal amount of power in standby mode. All protection functions operate automatically without external control signals.
Applications include portable devices such as LED flashlights, small measuring instruments, or portable speakers powered by a single lithium-ion cell. The board also protects rechargeable cells in hobby electronics projects when the charger does not provide the necessary quality control. DIY battery packs benefit from reliable protection against thermal overload.
The board is designed exclusively for lithium-ion cells with a nominal voltage of 3.7 V. It must not be operated with other cell types or voltages. A separate charger with an appropriate charge cutoff is required, as the protection board only monitors the cell and does not control the charging process.
Safety Information
Lithium-ion cells require proper handling; short circuits, damage, and extreme temperatures can cause fire or explosion. The protection board is intended exclusively for building prototypes and development purposes. Work with high-current sources is reserved for qualified electricians; if in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
