Product Description
The 4-channel infrared line sensor module detects lines on the surface through reflection detection. Each channel uses an infrared LED/receiver pair and provides a binary signal indicating whether a line has been detected. This digital output enables direct connection to the logic inputs of microcontrollers.
The module operates with a 3.3 V or 5 V supply voltage, so no level conversion is required for standard boards. Each channel has its own trimmer potentiometer, which can be used to adjust the detection threshold to different surface colors and lighting conditions. This allows the sensor to operate reliably on both light and dark surfaces.
Typical applications include line-following robots, such as driverless model vehicles on marked tracks or sorting machines that align objects according to printed lines. The module also supports navigation along guide lines laid on the floor in automated warehouse systems. The four independent channels allow the controller to keep the vehicle on track and detect curves.
The module is operated with either of the two supply voltages and requires four digital inputs on the microcontroller. Calibration before starting saves time but is not essential, as the trimmer provides the necessary flexibility. Surface contamination or excessive ambient brightness can affect detection accuracy.
