Product description
A ten-segment LED bar graph is used to visually display levels, measured values, or status conditions. Each segment can be switched individually, allowing between one and ten illuminated diodes to be displayed flexibly. Typical applications include displaying battery charge levels, audio level meters, sensor readings, or machine operating statuses.
The bar graph requires a maximum of 200 mA for full illumination. The individual segments can be controlled via the digital outputs of a microcontroller board or specialized LED driver ICs whose outputs must provide the required current. Direct connection to microcontroller pins is generally practical only for a few segments; from four or five illuminated segments onward, an external power source should be provided.
The bar graph is used in audio power displays, where it visualizes the output level across several decibel stages, as well as in battery monitoring for portable devices or sensor displays for environmental measurements. The module is also suitable for displaying threshold transitions, such as when a pressure or temperature limit is exceeded.
A separate power supply within the required current range is needed for operation. The red LEDs have a forward voltage of approximately 2 V, making a supply voltage of 3 V or higher suitable.
