Product description
The active piezo buzzer generates a tone independently when voltage is applied, as a built-in oscillator provides the necessary alternating signal. This fundamentally distinguishes it from passive buzzers, which require an external audio signal. With an operating voltage between 3.3 and 5 V, the module connects directly to most microcontroller boards.
The board has three connection pins in a row, only two of which are active: the signal pin S and the ground pin GND. To activate the buzzer, simply set the S pin to a high level; the device then emits a tone at approximately 2.5 kHz. Since pulse-width modulation is not required, there is no need for complex tone generation in the code.
The module is suitable for all applications where a simple acoustic signal is sufficient, such as alarms in security systems, warning functions when limit values are exceeded, or confirmation tones in control devices. The maximum current consumption of 30 mA remains uncritical even during extended activation. Although the fixed tone cannot be changed in frequency, the module owes its wide use to this simplicity.
It is controlled like a digital output for an LED, directly via a GPIO pin of a microcontroller or single-board computer. A level shifter is not required when the controller operates at 3.3 V or 5 V.
