Product description
The KY 004 is a push button on a compact circuit board that provides digital input signals for control tasks. The switch has a closed contact when unpressed and interrupts the connection when pressed. Each press therefore directly signals a change of state to the connected microcontroller.
The three solder pads allow wiring without connectors. An operating voltage of up to 24 V is possible, offering flexibility in the power supply. Switching is immediate and reliable, although software debouncing is common.
Typical applications include robotics projects, where buttons control direction of travel or functions, as well as alarm and control systems with acknowledgement buttons. In prototypes with single-board computers, such modules provide user interaction without additional electronics. The button can also be used to detect end positions in mechanical processes.
The button connects directly to digital inputs or outputs on common boards. Debouncing logic in software or firmware is required to filter contact bounce. The module is a complete solution that requires no additional components, but it does need a power supply on the target system.
Safety notice
The button is intended solely for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. It must not be integrated into household electrical circuits. Consult a qualified electrician when working near existing electrical installations. Do not exceed the operating voltage of 24 V, and observe the correct polarity when connecting the power supply.
