Description
Product Overview
- Infrared decoder and transmitter for remote-control signals, TTL-compatible inputs and outputs
- Receives and transmits standard 38 kHz infrared protocols
- Connection to microcontrollers via 3-pin header (power, data, ground)
- 5 V operating voltage, current consumption approximately 30 mA
- Does not store codes; decodes incoming signals as real-time pulse patterns for immediate processing
Product Description
An infrared decoder and transceiver with a TTL-level output serves as an interface between remote controls and control electronics. The module receives modulated infrared signals with the standard carrier frequency of 38 kHz, decodes the pulse sequences, and outputs the control commands as digital signals. At the same time, the module drives infrared LEDs to transmit commands itself, provided that the code to be transmitted is known.
The decoder directly converts the received pulse patterns into raw bytes, which the connected microcontroller reads and evaluates. The transmitter side works in reverse: the controller defines the bit pattern, the module converts it into the modulated carrier frequency, and drives the infrared LEDs. Since the module does not store codes independently, all codes must be stored in the controller's program.
Typical applications include controlling robots or electronic models with standard remote controls, reading remote-control signals for programming and reproducing commands, and building home automation systems based on infrared communication. The module is particularly useful when several different types of remote controls need to be recognized.
A microcontroller or single-board computer with digital inputs and outputs in the 5 V range is required. A separate 5 V power supply is needed for operation. A level shifter is required when connecting to 3.3 V systems. The receiver's operating range depends on the remote control, enclosure movement, and ambient light; under normal conditions, three to four meters can typically be reached without obstacles.
Safety Information
This module is not intended for installation in household mains circuits and is intended exclusively for prototypes, tests, and development purposes. Work on or in the immediate vicinity of household electrical installations must be carried out by a qualified electrician; if in doubt, consult one before commissioning.
