IC Extraction Tool - 10 cm, Green Plastic Handle
Description
Product Overview
- IC extraction tool for removing integrated circuits from soldered holes
- 10 cm long, with a green plastic handle
- Two parallel levers with tips for slipping under IC pins
- Works on both sides simultaneously, preventing damage to the circuit board and component
Product Description
This extraction tool removes multi-pin electronic components from a soldered circuit board without damaging the IC or the board. Slide the two levers under the rows of pins on either side, then apply even pressure to lift the component. This method distributes the force rather than applying it at a single point, as improvised tools do.
The design, with two opposing levers, reduces strain on both the circuit board traces and the fragile IC pins during removal. Adjacent components remain undamaged, especially on densely populated circuit boards. The tool is suitable for ICs with up to around 40 pins. Its 10 cm lever length provides sufficient reach on crowded boards.
In the classroom, when replacing faulty components on experiment boards, recycling old circuit boards to salvage components, redesigning circuits during prototyping, or troubleshooting during development, the tool saves time and money by enabling safe component reuse.
If the IC pins bend backward, they will need reworking. The tool removes only components soldered in vertically, with straight pins. Removing heavily corroded or extensively soldered joints requires desoldering flux or reheating with a soldering iron.
Safety Notice
This tool is designed for safely removing components from solder joints during electronics testing, prototyping, and repair. Improper use can damage circuit boards or bend component pins. Take care during desoldering to avoid hot components and solder fumes.
