Product Description

This Bluetooth Low Energy module enables wireless connections between microcontrollers, sensors, and other electronic devices. The module complies with the BLE standard (Bluetooth 4.0), which consumes significantly less energy than classic Bluetooth.

Depending on the project, the module can be configured as a master (connection initiator) or as a slave (waits for requests). Communication with the connected microcontroller takes place via UART, a serial interface. Thanks to its 3.3 V power supply, the module is easily compatible with modern single-board computers and microcontrollers; however, a level shifter is required when connecting it to 5 V systems. With a range of up to 100 meters in open terrain, it is suitable for many indoor and outdoor applications.

Typical applications include sensor networks in which multiple BLE nodes transmit their readings to a central unit, wireless control of motors or relays via a smartphone or a second board, and low-power IoT prototypes. In smart home applications, for example, room temperatures or door openers can be monitored and controlled wirelessly.

Operation requires a suitable microcontroller or single-board computer with an available UART port. Depending on the requirements, additional components such as external antennas, batteries, or power supplies may be necessary. The range is significantly reduced inside enclosed buildings with many metal obstacles.
