Product Description
This LED module provides brightness in the 3-watt range and is supplied mounted on a circuit board. It operates in the voltage range of 3.5 to 5.5 V and can be connected to common microcontroller boards, but requires an external power source for its high current consumption of approximately 700 mA at full load.
The module is controlled via a current-limiting resistor or series component, as the high current can cause damage if applied directly to a controller output. The LED emits considerable heat during operation, which is dissipated through the circuit board. During continuous operation, the junction temperature rises quickly, so a heat sink or thermal connection to the surrounding environment is required to maintain the service life.
The module is suitable for bright indicators, illumination tasks in prototypes, and use as an LED light in robotics projects. It can also be used in portable battery-powered lighting applications, provided that the power supply is appropriately rated.
Operation requires a regulated power source with a current rating of at least 1 A, as well as a current-limiting circuit. During continuous operation, the ambient temperature should remain below 50 °C; otherwise, thermal overload may occur.
Safety Notice
Do not connect the LED module directly to a microcontroller output, as its high current consumption will cause failure. A separate power source and current limiting are required. The module is intended for prototyping and development purposes only and must not be connected to the household electrical circuit.
