Product Description
The sensor simultaneously measures the temperature and relative humidity of the surrounding air. The measurements are transmitted to a microcontroller board via the I2C bus, allowing multiple of these modules to be operated on a single line and thereby saving connections.
Functionally, the sensor uses capacitive and resistance-based sensing elements, whose changes are converted into digital values. Since the operating voltage is 3.3 V, the module connects directly to corresponding boards; a level shifter is required for 5 V boards. Current consumption is in the milliampere range and therefore has little impact even in battery-powered applications.
Typical applications include climate monitoring systems in warehouses and rooms, data logging for research projects, and controlling ventilation or humidification. The sensor is also suitable for portable devices or sensor networks because its small design requires little space. On-site calibration is not necessary; the accuracy of ±2 °C and ±3 % is sufficient for most prototypes and development tasks.
The sensor is supplied with pre-soldered pin headers and can be plugged directly into a breadboard or carrier board. In addition to the 3.3 V power supply, only an I2C software library or a corresponding programming template for the target board is required.
