Product description
This GT2 timing belt is used to transmit motion in drive systems. The belt sold by the meter allows you to purchase the required length without waste and adjust it on site if needed. The GT2 profile is widely used and operates reliably in machines with moderate speeds and forces.
The belt transmits power through its tooth flanks to standard gears with GT2 pitch. This eliminates the slip that can occur with flat belts. The fiberglass reinforcement makes the tooth flanks durable and dimensionally stable. With its 6 mm width, the belt fits the usual guides in 3D printers, plotters, and positioning systems.
Sold by the meter, it is practical for rapid prototyping applications, such as building custom CNC machines or retrofitting robot axes. This allows the X-axis belt of a DIY milling machine to be cut to the exact length instead of being purchased with excess length and trimmed. It can be tensioned similarly to prefabricated belts when the axes are properly aligned.
Proper installation requires a level, wear-free setup with the gears correctly aligned. The belt requires appropriate pretensioning; if it is too tight, its service life is reduced, while if it is too loose, it will skip. Contamination from dust or oil impairs the tooth flanks. One end must be sealed before use, for example by gluing or sewing, to prevent the belt from fraying.
