Description
Expansion board for the ESP32-C3 Super Mini - with battery connector and charging function
The ESP32-C3 Super Mini is small and affordable, but it has two drawbacks: Each sensor needs its own cables for signal, power, and ground, and there is no battery power supply. This expansion board solves both problems. Plug the Super Mini into the two female headers in the center, and every pin is then available as a three-pin row with its own power and ground connection.
It also includes a charging circuit for a single-cell 3.7 V lithium battery. The battery is connected via the PH2.0 connector and charged through the Super Mini's USB port. This enables mobile projects that previously depended on a cable: sensor nodes in the garden, portable measuring devices, or small wireless applications.
Highlights
- All GPIO pins of the ESP32-C3 Super Mini are brought out as three-pin rows
- Color coding for signal, power, and ground enables quick wiring
- Additional connections for 5 V, 3.3 V, and GND
- PH2.0 connector for a single-cell 3.7 V lithium battery
- Onboard charging circuit; charging is done via the Super Mini's USB port
- Green charging LED: lights up while charging and turns off when the battery is full
- Two separate power rails, VCC1 and VCC2
- Both rails supply 3.3 V by default and can be switched to battery voltage using solder bridges
- Pin headers already soldered, ready to use
- Compact dimensions of 37.4 x 22.5 mm
Benefits and applications
- Battery-powered sensor nodes for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth projects
- Portable measuring devices and data loggers without a power supply
- Quick connection of several sensors without a breadboard and cable clutter
- Educational projects where many hands work on the same assembly
- Model-making and exhibition construction with limited space
- Assemblies that are to be transferred from a breadboard into a stable form

Notes
- The ESP32-C3 Super Mini and battery are not included.
- Use only single-cell lithium batteries rated at 3.7 V with a suitable PH2.0 connector.
- Check the polarity of the battery connector before plugging it in. Reversed polarity will damage the board.
- Only charge lithium batteries under supervision and on a non-flammable surface.
- Switch the power rails to battery voltage only if your connected modules are designed for this voltage range.
- When attaching the Super Mini, make sure it is oriented correctly before powering the board.
