Product description
A Class D interference suppression filter suppresses high-frequency interference that affects connected devices from the power grid or is fed back into the grid by them. The module belongs to the device class with the most stringent requirements and is installed wherever power and signals are in close proximity and could interfere with each other. With a current capacity of up to 4 A, the filter is suitable for standard power supplies in small to medium-sized setups.
The filter uses LC sections to dampen rapid voltage changes. Its Class D rating specifically means that attenuation is effective even at low frequencies starting at a few kHz, which is required for devices with switched-mode power supplies or high-frequency switching operations. The filter is particularly important wherever analog measurement electronics, sensors, or wireless communication are operated in the immediate vicinity and could be affected by interference from the power grid.
In laboratory setups or industrial prototyping applications, the filter helps ensure that individual components do not compromise clean power supply and signal integrity. Test stations set up on the lab bench for extended periods also benefit from the decoupling when various measuring instruments and wireless communication modules operate in parallel.
The filter is connected between the power inlet and the input terminal of the local power supply. It does not provide power; a suitable power supply or external power source is required. The actual attenuation characteristics are also influenced by how the power supply lines are routed and how low-impedance the grounding connection is.
Safety notice
This filter is not intended for installation in a building's electrical circuit or for permanent installations in the mains power system. It is intended exclusively for prototype setups and testing and development purposes. Work on or in the immediate vicinity of the power supply must be carried out by qualified electricians; if you are unsure about the correct arrangement, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
