Product description

The temperature probe digitally measures temperatures via the 1-Wire interface and reports them to a microcontroller board in 0.5-degree increments or finer steps. The sheathed stainless steel protective tube is suitable for measurements in liquids and damp environments up to IP67. The 2.5-meter connection cable eliminates the need for external cable runs in installations spanning multiple rooms.

Via the 1-Wire interface, up to 127 sensors can be connected in sequence to the same three wires. This significantly reduces the number of pins required on the control board. The sensor calibrates itself. The software determines the resolution; at 12 bits, the device measures with an accuracy of 0.0625 degrees but requires approximately 750 milliseconds per measurement. At 8 bits, it reduces measurement time but requires a wider range for temperature fluctuations.

Applications include temperature monitoring in cold chains for food or laboratory equipment, room climate automation, reading temperature data in multi-zone greenhouses or terrariums, and early detection of overheating in machines. The long cable makes the sensor a competitive alternative to wireless, battery-powered solutions in disproportionately large setups.

A control board with an available digital input or a Linux-based single-board computer with a GPIO pin and 1-Wire driver is required. The cable has bare ends and no connector. The ground potential must be established via a conductor on the board. This sensor cannot be used for measurements below minus 55 degrees or above 125 degrees. When working on or near 230 V electrical installations, a qualified electrician must be involved.

Safety information

The device is intended exclusively for prototyping, testing, and development purposes and not for installation in household mains circuits. The exposed protective tube may heat up under load. For measurements in critical temperature applications or if there are doubts about accuracy, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
