Product Description
A three-axis accelerometer detects movements and changes in orientation in all spatial directions. The module is based on the MMA8452Q chip and outputs measurement values digitally via I2C, allowing multiple sensors to be connected to one bus while requiring only a few connections.
The sensor measures accelerations of up to 8 g, making it suitable for applications that need to detect moderate levels of shock and vibration. The integrated motion detection automatically detects whether the device is moving or at rest. The current orientation in space can also be determined.
Typical applications include detecting device movements in portable devices, detecting vibrations in machinery, and monitoring orientation changes in robotics projects. The sensor operates in the low-energy range and is therefore also suitable for battery-powered applications.
The module requires an operating voltage between 2.4 and 3.6 V and communicates digitally. A level shifter is required to connect it to 5 V boards. The small dimensions and QFN package require fine-pitch wiring or the use of a carrier board.
Safety Information
The module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes, not for operation in permanently installed electrical systems. Work on or near household electrical circuits must be carried out by a qualified electrician; if in doubt, consult one before commissioning.
