Product description

The desoldering pump operates on the vacuum principle. A plunger is manually pulled back, thereby tensioning a spring. When triggered, the spring-loaded return movement of the plunger generates the necessary suction to remove molten solder. The spring must be tensioned again after each suction operation, so the pump is particularly suitable for occasional repairs and rework.

The pump collects the removed solder in an internal chamber and can be used several times until the chamber is full. It can then be disassembled and cleaned. The suction nozzles are replaceable, which is helpful for different solder pad sizes. For repeated work involving denser solder joints, manually tensioning the pump eventually becomes tiring.

Typical applications include repairing cold solder joints, removing displaced blobs of solder during hand soldering, and removing individual components from circuit boards. Large soldered areas with a lot of solder require several suction operations. The pump can easily be taken to small workshops.

No power supply is required for operation. Those who need to desolder frequently and intensively will eventually prefer an electric vacuum pump, as it operates without having to be tensioned again. The housing materials have limited resistance to heat from being close to the soldering point, but should be sufficient for normal hand-soldering speeds.

Safety information

Removing solder produces fumes that are toxic when conventional rosin fluxes are processed; ensure adequate ventilation or extraction. The pump must not be operated near open flames. Working with soldering equipment requires caution to prevent burns; if in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before use.
