Product description
This switching regulator efficiently converts higher input voltages into stabilized lower output voltages and allows a choice between two operating modes. In constant-voltage mode, it supplies a regulated voltage that can be adjusted via a potentiometer or external signals; in constant-current mode, it limits the current flow to a fixed set value. With maximum output currents of up to 5 A, the module is suitable for more demanding applications than simple linear regulators.
The XL4005 switching regulator operates at a switching frequency of approximately 150 kHz and uses high-frequency pulse-width modulation for voltage regulation. This enables high efficiency and lower heat generation than linear circuits. Continuously adjusting the output voltage via a voltage-divider potentiometer provides complete control over the output level.
The module can be used for charging lithium-ion batteries in constant-current mode, for stabilized power supply to LED strips and light-emitting actuators, and for prototype power supplies for systems with variable or dynamic current requirements. The regulator can also be used as a laboratory-controlled current source for test measurements or as charging electronics in self-sufficient energy systems.
Operation requires an input voltage source in the range of 5 to 32 V. The output current and output voltage are defined by external resistors or the potentiometer, respectively. The parameters to be set can be calculated from the XL4005 IC datasheet. Ensure correct polarity when assembling the circuit.
