Product description
The CO2 sensor measures carbon dioxide concentrations in the range of 0 to 5000 ppm and is used to monitor air quality in rooms, greenhouses, and device enclosures. With analog and digital outputs, the measured value can either be read directly as a voltage or retrieved via a digital interface, simplifying integration into various controller architectures.
The sensor operates with a supply voltage of 4.5 to 5.5 V and can be connected directly to 5 V logic. The pin header allows direct insertion into breadboards or perfboards without additional wiring. The warm-up time is approximately two minutes; the measurement then stabilizes. Automatic calibration to the fresh-air reference value of 400 ppm runs in the background, eliminating the need for manual adjustment.
Possible applications include monitoring air quality in living spaces to detect the need for ventilation, checking CO2 levels in greenhouses or terrariums, and recording measurements when building environmental sensor networks. In educational projects, the sensor is used to demonstrate simple gas measurement with analog and digital interfaces.
Operation requires a stabilized power supply within the specified voltage range. The 5000 ppm measuring range is sufficient for indoor spaces; at extremely elevated CO2 levels above this value, no further resolution is available. Long-term measurement accuracy requires the sensor to regularly detect fresh air to support its internal calibration.
Safety notice
The device is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes and is not suitable for installation in household electrical circuits. Observe the specified voltage limits when supplying power to prevent damage. Work on or near electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians; consult a qualified electrician if you have any questions about the power supply.
