Product description
This protection board monitors two lithium cells connected in series and interrupts the current flow in critical operating conditions. The board responds to overcharging, deep discharge, overcurrent, and short circuits by disconnecting the current path. This protects the cells from damage; however, the function is purely for protection and does not limit the charging current. Charging therefore requires a separate charger or an external charging circuit that regulates the current.
The cells are connected via two pads: B- connects to the common negative terminal of the cell string, while P- conducts the current to the load or charger. The positive terminal of the cells is connected directly; the BM pad is used to monitor the voltage of the individual cell between the two cells. To ensure that the circuit functions correctly, the continuous current must not exceed 5 A.
The compact design, measuring approximately 38 * 8 * 2.5 millimeters, can easily be integrated into existing battery packs made from cylindrical 18650 cells or similar formats. Any two-cell pack made from 3.7 V lithium cells is suitable, provided the current limit is observed.
When assembling the pack, note that the board only provides the protection function. A suitable charger with voltage regulation must be provided separately. The circuit is designed for use in portable electronic devices, LED lights, or cordless tools.
Safety information
Lithium cells can catch fire if damaged, connected with the wrong polarity, or charged incorrectly. This protection board is intended exclusively for assembling battery packs for prototypes, testing, and development purposes. Work on or near electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians; if you have questions about integrating the board into a device or selecting the charger, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
