Product Description

The Bluetooth module with BLE 4.0 standard enables wireless data transmission over short to medium distances. Outdoors, the module reaches up to 100 m; indoors, its range is limited to approximately 50 m by walls and other obstacles. This makes the module suitable for applications in individual rooms or open areas such as gardens, but not for connections across multiple floors or over large open spaces without a line of sight.

Communication takes place serially via UART (RS232 logic), enabling direct connection to microcontrollers with a corresponding interface. The 3.3 V operating voltage means that the module can only be connected to 5 V boards via a level shifter. In sleep mode, the module consumes less than 10 µA, enabling battery-powered projects to operate for extended periods.

The module can function as a beacon to signal presence or detect proximity. Typical applications include portable trackers in backpacks or vehicles that report their position to a central station, or door sensors that report when a person enters a room. The module can also be used as an interface between IoT devices in the home when they need to communicate wirelessly with a smartphone or tablet.

Operation requires an external 3.3 V power supply and a serial connection to the microcontroller. The module's firmware is configured using AT commands, so no additional programming environment is required. For use in battery systems, a suitable power management circuit for managing the power supply is recommended.
