Product description
An automation project consisting of a sensor, controller, and actuator. The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor detects objects in front of the trash bin without contact, while the Arduino Uno R3 evaluates the distance measurement and controls a micro servo that opens and closes the lid. The sensor emits ultrasonic pulses and measures the time until the reflection returns, allowing the distance to be determined. The entire logic runs in the program on the controller.
The set comes complete with the model trash bin, sensor, and servo already attached; connections are made via plug-in sockets, so no soldering is required. The ultrasonic system detects objects within a range of several meters, which is why the detection distance is limited to realistic values in the code. Opening time, closing delay, and sensitivity can be adjusted directly in the Arduino program.
In school lessons or as a self-learning project, the model demonstrates the interaction of measurement acquisition, decision logic, and actuator control. Anyone who wants to understand sensor-actuator systems in a practical way can work with real components to achieve a tangible result instead of merely writing code.
A PC with the Arduino IDE and a USB port for programming the controller are required. The system is powered via the USB connection; batteries or a separate power supply must be added for longer autonomous operation.
