Product Description
This sensor monitors whether the filament is moving correctly through the print nozzle during the 3D printing process. Using an optical sensor, it measures the continuous movement of the material and immediately detects when the filament breaks or gets stuck.
The operating principle is simple. A light source and a photodetector in a channel detect when material passes through. If the interruption of the light beam stops, the sensor reports this to the printer control system, which can then pause the process. This helps prevent failed prints and reduce material waste.
The sensor works with the electronics boards of common 3D printers and sends its signal via a simple digital output. It is mounted on the extruder or print head so that the filament is detected as it exits. This makes the module suitable for continuous printing tasks where reliability is essential, especially for longer or unattended printing operations.
Integration requires a free digital input on the printer control system. The printer software must be able to process the sensor output and should support a pause script.
Safety Notice
This module is intended exclusively for the construction and maintenance of 3D printers for development and testing purposes. Work on the printer's electrical installation must be carried out by qualified electricians only. If you are unsure about the correct wiring or configuration, consult a qualified electrician.
