Product description
The analog-to-digital converter captures voltage signals from sensors with 16-bit resolution and transmits the values to a microcontroller via I2C. With four separately measurable inputs, multiple analog sources can be captured simultaneously without occupying additional pins on the main board. I2C addressing allows up to four modules on one bus if more channels are required.
The programmable gain adapts the input voltage range to weak signals without external circuitry. A measurement range from 0 to 6.144 V covers typical sensor outputs; a voltage divider is required for higher voltages. The internal reference oscillator eliminates time-consuming calibration work.
The ADC is suitable for data loggers for temperature, humidity, or light sensors, battery monitoring in mobile systems, multichannel acquisition of measured values in test benches, and triggering threshold alarms based on analog input values. A typical project measures four PT100 temperature sensors connected in parallel via analog voltage drops.
A 3.3 V or 5 V logic board is required to operate the module. The main board must have an I2C bus. The usual development environment with I2C libraries is sufficient for processing the measurement data.
Safety information
Overvoltage protection on the input side must be provided externally to prevent damage from voltage spikes. The module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes and is not suitable for installation in household electrical circuits.
