Product description
This battery holder supplies microcontroller boards and smaller projects with 6 volts from four AA cells. The permanently installed barrel plug fits common DC jacks with a 5.5 * 2.1 mm inner contact and eliminates the need for soldering on the power supply.
The switch allows you to interrupt the power supply without removing the batteries. Since there is no enclosure, the contacts are exposed. This makes the holder easy to handle and test, but requires care when positioning it to prevent short circuits.
Typical applications include portable data loggers, field-ready sensor stations, or experiments with battery-powered robots outdoors. The holder can also be quickly connected to various boards for development testing without rewiring the power supply.
As a power source for prototypes, the holder typically provides several hours of runtime, depending on the power consumption of the connected device. Four AA cells must be purchased separately; both conventional alkaline and rechargeable NiMH batteries are commonly used.
