Product Description

This level converter module connects circuits with different logic levels. The integrated IC converts between the 3.3 V levels of modern development platforms and the 5 V logic of older or more robust components across four channels, without requiring an external circuit.

The module operates bidirectionally, allowing data to flow in both directions simultaneously. Each of the four channels processes four bits of parallel information, enabling data buses with a width of eight to sixteen bits when multiple modules are connected in series. The open-drain output stages allow different voltage combinations to be connected, as long as both sides have a defined logic level.

The module can be used wherever old and new hardware need to work together. Examples include controlling classic 5 V relay boards with a 3.3 V microcontroller, connecting parallel LCD displays to modern board families, or setting up extended measurement data chains that connect different voltage domains. The module also saves complex individual wiring when integrating legacy components into new prototypes.

Please note that the module is designed only to connect two fixed voltage levels and provides neither signal repetition nor intelligence. In addition, the target board must have at least one common ground connection with the module; otherwise, undefined reference potentials may occur. For real-time-critical applications, the low delay introduced by the level converter should be verified through measurement or simulation.
