Description

Product overview

  • Three-axis joystick with X, Y, and rotation axes
  • Analog output signals for all three axes
  • Integrated button in the joystick knob
  • Suitable for microcontrollers and single-board computers
  • Robust mechanical construction with detents at the end positions

Product description

A three-axis joystick detects movement in three spatial directions and is suitable for control tasks requiring differentiated input. The X and Y axes register horizontal and vertical movements, while the rotation axis detects rotation around the vertical axis. Each axis provides analog voltage values between 0 and the supply voltage.

The joystick outputs voltage signals, so it requires a microcontroller with integrated analog-to-digital converters. Three separate inputs process the signals from the three axes, while a fourth port reads the button's digital switching state. The measured values enable precise control of motorized axes, robot grippers, and other multi-axis drives.

Typical applications include operating robotic arms, calibrating multipoint measurements, and hands-free control of model vehicles and drones. The detents at the end positions provide tactile feedback and prevent inadvertent overcontrol. A return spring brings the joystick to a center position with a neutral offset, making it easier to use as a central park position.

Connections can be made using individual wires or a connector with at least four contacts for the analog outputs and button wire. The operating voltage is typically between 3.3 and 5 volts; no external power supply is required. A development board with enough analog and digital inputs and a power source completes the setup.

Safety notice

The joystick is intended exclusively for building, testing, and developing prototypes. Consult a qualified electrician when working on electrical installations or in unsafe application scenarios. The button and axes are accessible during operation; crushing or cutting movements must be ruled out.
