Product Description

A DC motor with an integrated gearbox for operation at 6 V provides increased-torque movement for mobile models and simple drive applications. The all-metal gearbox with a 1:90 reduction ratio reduces the speed to approximately 100 RPM while significantly increasing the available torque compared with an un-geared motor of the same size.

The motor can be connected directly to a 6 V power source, such as four alkaline-manganese cells or a corresponding battery pack. The direction of rotation is changed by reversing the supply voltage polarity. Current draw depends heavily on the mechanical load, increases significantly when the output is blocked, and then requires a sufficiently rated power source as well as current limiting or a relay with suitable current capacity.

Typical applications include drives for model cars and small robots, driving wheels or tracks on test chassis, and mechanisms for sliders and grippers in simple automation systems. In model kits, this motor type is often used as a standard drive element for vehicles or similar motion applications.

Before continuous operation, the available current must be checked. Prolonged motor blockage or operation under extreme load causes overheating. Depending on the scope of the project, a suitable power supply module, possibly with motor control or an H-bridge for reversing the direction, is also required.
