Product Description
The push button is a mechanical switch for digital inputs on microcontrollers and similar systems. When at rest, the circuit between the two pins is open. Pressing the button causes a spring contact to electrically connect the pins; when the button is released, the connection opens again automatically.
With a 2.54 mm pitch, the push button fits directly into perfboards or breadboards without bending the pins. The low-profile 12 * 12 * 6 mm housing takes up little space and sits securely on the board.
Typically, one pin is connected to ground and the other to a digital input pin of the microcontroller. An internal or external pull-up or pull-down resistor creates a defined signal level that changes when the button is pressed. This allows the push button to be used for a wide range of functions, such as starting a program, incrementing a counter, or navigating menus.
Since the component operates purely mechanically and contains no electronics, it does not require a separate power supply. It can be used in simple perfboard projects as well as Arduino and Raspberry Pi applications.
Safety Notice
The push button is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. It is not suitable for direct use in household installations or as a switch in circuits with mains voltage. If you are unsure how to wire the push button correctly, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning it.
