Product Description
This set of 1,000 green 5 mm LEDs is suitable for indicator and signaling applications. The light-emitting semiconductor chip emits green light with a peak wavelength of 565 nm. The diffuse plastic housing distributes the light evenly across a viewing angle of 60 degrees, creating a broad, glare-free illuminated area instead of a single hotspot.
Each LED requires a forward voltage of approximately 2.2 V and can handle a maximum continuous current of 25 mA. This means that a series resistor for current limiting is essential to protect the LED from excessive current. The longer leads are the anodes and the shorter leads are the cathodes, so correct polarity must be observed when soldering.
Typical applications include status indicators in electronic circuits, such as visual feedback for operating states, or signal lights in microcontroller-based hobby projects. They can be easily integrated on perfboards or breadboards. The temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C covers indoor and basic outdoor applications.
Operation requires suitable series resistors and a power source with the appropriate voltage. The LEDs should be connected in series with the calculated series resistor in the circuit.
Safety Information
Ensure correct polarity when soldering, as LEDs do not conduct current in reverse bias and may be damaged. This LED is intended exclusively for prototyping as well as testing and development purposes and is not intended for integration into household mains circuits. If you are unsure about correctly dimensioning the series resistor or about the power supply, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
