Product description
The ST-Link is a hardware debugger and programmer for STM8 and STM32 microcontrollers, connected to the development computer via USB. It enables in-circuit debugging directly while the target system is running, without having to remove the controller from the circuit.
Debugging is performed via the SWD interface (Single Wire Debug). The programmer transfers new firmware directly to the controller's flash memory; breakpoints and step-by-step execution are supported. The galvanic isolation prevents voltage spikes from the target system from affecting the development computer.
ST-Link is suitable for embedded systems development where frequent flashing and debugging are required, such as sensor applications, motor controls, or IoT nodes. In everyday project work, troubleshooting directly in the running code saves considerable time compared with flashing blindly.
A development computer with a USB port and an ST-compatible IDE or command-line tool is required. The connection cable enables connection to the debug pins of the STM8 or STM32 board; the pinout must be followed carefully when using breadboard setups.
Safety information
The device is not designed for operation with mains voltages. It is intended exclusively for the development, testing, and debugging of microcontroller prototypes. When working on or near industrial control systems or mains installations, consult a qualified electrician.
