Product description
The 4-ohm speaker with a built-in amplifier outputs audio signals directly from 5 V systems. With a power rating of 10 W, it produces sound pressure levels suitable for small rooms and lab benches without requiring external amplification.
Power is supplied via USB or a jack socket, both of which are common in development environments. Signals can come from any audio output; microcontroller pins with PWM modulation, sound cards, or dedicated audio DACs work equally well. The 4-ohm impedance determines the output power and limits the operating duration. Continuous operation at full load causes heat buildup in the amplifier, so longer playback periods require a break or reduced volume.
Typical applications include notification tones in sensor projects, alarm signals when threshold values are exceeded, or voice output from text-to-speech systems. In a monitoring prototype, for example, the speaker can provide an acoustic warning of unusual temperatures without requiring additional hardware.
For operation, a USB power source providing at least 2 A is sufficient at full load. High-frequency input signals above 20 kHz are no longer reproduced and may cause audible noise, so PWM signals should be filtered. An audio cable from the signal source to the input must be purchased separately.
Safety information
The speaker is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. It is not designed for continuous operation over several hours; take regular breaks during intensive use. If you are unsure about the power supply, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
