Product Description
This solar car uses solar energy directly for propulsion. The two solar cells do not charge a battery; instead, they feed their energy directly into an electric motor that drives the wheels via gears. The vehicle moves only when the light intensity is sufficient.
The direct gear drive is both a strength and a weakness. The car starts moving without an intermediate energy store as soon as light falls on the cells, and it requires neither a battery nor a capacitor. However, the driving speed decreases noticeably when clouds cover the sky or the sun is low. For stable tests, the vehicle must be placed in full sunlight or under a bright lamp.
The project is suitable for beginners who want to experience the interaction between light intensity, electrical power, and mechanical movement. It demonstrates how few energy conversions are required and where their limits lie, without complicated electronics. In a classroom or laboratory, it works only under targeted lighting with at least 500 to 1000 lux.
The car does not require any additional power sources or chargers. For reliable measurements and comparisons, it should be tested outdoors on sunny days or under standardized lighting with a known light intensity.
Safety Notice
This product is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. The solar cells can become hot in direct sunlight; avoid touching them during operation. Not suitable for installation in household electrical circuits.
