Product description
The Sensor Shield V5.0 is an expansion board for Arduino UNO and MEGA that enables the direct connection of various sensors and modules via standardized sockets. The pre-soldered pin headers and connection blocks significantly reduce wiring effort and potential sources of error during prototype development.
The module is plugged onto the Arduino board and significantly expands the available inputs and outputs. With up to ten analog inputs, sensors such as temperature, light, or humidity sensors can be connected, while the up to twenty digital connections are available for relays, LEDs, or stepper motors. I2C and SPI interfaces are also provided for operating communication modules or other specialized sensor ICs on a bus.
The shield is used in environmental monitoring projects where multiple sensors simultaneously measure temperature, humidity, and brightness, as well as in robotic applications with multiple motors and limit switches. The module is also suitable for data-logging experiments in educational settings that record various measured values in parallel. One particular advantage is that the shield can be operated with UNO or MEGA without having to adapt the basic code between the platforms.
The shield is simply plugged onto the Arduino microcontroller and draws its power via USB or the external power source of the Arduino board. Projects with powerful actuators require an additional external power supply because the Arduino's USB port is not powerful enough for higher current loads.
