Product Description
This rotary potentiometer with a total resistance of 100 kOhm detects rotational movements and outputs them as an analog voltage. The dual-gang design provides two independently operating potentiometers, allowing two channels to be measured or controlled in parallel. The 15 mm long shaft fits standard rotary knobs and sits securely in the front panel.
The potentiometer operates according to the resistance-wiper principle. The wiper contacts follow a winding and thereby divide the total resistance depending on the rotation position. The output value is linear to the rotation, so the raw data is directly suitable for the analog-to-digital converters of microcontroller boards. No prior calibration is required.
The potentiometer is typically used in applications requiring two parallel measurement values or control outputs. A mixer can use two such potentiometers to measure the volume for the left and right channels. Robot arms also use dual-gang potentiometers to simultaneously detect two joint angles for precise position control.
The shaft has a thread diameter of 15 mm and fits standard rotary knobs. For operation, a supply voltage between 5 V and 15 V is applied, with the actual output voltage following this supply voltage. Microcontroller boards with 3.3 V logic require a level shifter if the full output voltage is to be used. Alternatively, a voltage divider can be designed to reduce the output voltage to the permitted range.
Safety Notice
The potentiometer is intended for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. It must not be installed in the household power circuit. Work on or near electrical installations must be carried out by qualified electricians. If you have questions about integrating it into existing systems, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
