Product Description
The rotary encoder detects rotational movements and converts them into digital pulses. With three pulses per revolution, the module is suitable for applications where the exact angular position or rotational speed needs to be monitored without requiring the highest resolution. The TTL-compatible output connects directly to digital inputs on common microcontroller boards.
The module is powered by 5 V and outputs rotational pulses at logic level. The JST-XH2 connector with three connections carries the supply voltage, ground, and signal line. Multiple encoders can be connected to the same microcontroller as long as sufficient digital inputs are available.
Typical applications include monitoring motor shafts, measuring conveyor belt movement, or detecting rotary selectors in control devices. The encoder can also be used to detect rotational direction and speed when a resolution of three pulses per revolution is sufficient. An encoder with a finer resolution is required for higher angular-accuracy requirements.
Operation requires a 5 V power supply and a microcontroller with at least one available digital input. The JST-XH2 connectors are standard components and also allow connection via suitable cables. An evaluation routine in the controller's program counts the incoming pulses.
