Product description
The rod end bearing connects two components with an articulated joint and enables movement in multiple planes. The version with an 8 mm female thread is screwed directly into M8 threaded holes and requires no additional fastening elements such as washers or nuts.
A hardened steel ball runs in a self-lubricating plastic socket and requires no maintenance or relubrication during operation. The bearing withstands axial loads of up to 400 N and radial forces of up to 900 N, making it suitable for light to medium-duty mechanical constructions. The operating range of −40 to +80 °C allows use in air-conditioned indoor spaces as well as in unheated workshops.
Typical applications include robot arms, linear axes, and pivoting mounts, where the compact 20 mm length saves space. The bearing is also frequently used in test benches and experimental setups to provide degrees of freedom without installing complex bearing blocks.
Installation requires only an M8 hole in the mounting component. The thread engagement depth is 10 mm; a deeper hole does not impair function but makes the screwing-in process more difficult.
Safety information
The rod end bearing is a wear part and must be inspected for cracks, deformation, and wear before use. In the event of overloading or wear of the plastic socket, movements may become jerky or the bearing may seize. The bearing is not permitted for use in safety-critical applications such as lifting equipment or passenger conveyors.
