Product description
The RAMPS 1.4 control board is the classic controller board for building 3D printers yourself. It is installed on Arduino Mega 2560-compatible boards and expands them with all the outputs required for printing without occupying the digital pins themselves.
The board individually controls four stepper motors for the axes and the filament extruder. The integrated 20*4 LCD display with control knob shows print progress, temperatures, and menus directly on the printer. This eliminates the need for a continuous computer connection during printing.
The heated bed and hotend can be operated with different current levels. The board detects the current temperatures of both elements via thermistor inputs and regulates them independently. This makes printer control possible without additional external electronics.
Applications range from building a classic Cartesian printer and delta printers to Bowden extruders with direct motor control. Compatibility with numerous firmware variants allows flexible adjustments for different mechanical designs.
An Arduino Mega 2560 or compatible equivalent is required. The board needs a separate power supply for the motors and heaters, typically 12 V or 24 V from a suitable power supply unit. Software such as Marlin or Repetier is required and must be loaded onto the Arduino beforehand.
