Product description
This expansion module adds the ability to control two additional fans independently to RAMPS-1.4 controller boards. The extender receives its control information via four separate connections on the mainboard and addresses each fan separately without placing the entire current load on the controller.
The module is mounted directly on the RAMPS-1.4 board. The fans themselves are connected via screw terminals, which ensure secure contact and prevent wear caused by repeated reconnection. Both channels are equipped with upstream protective devices to protect the mainboard in the event of a short circuit or overload.
During operation, the module can be used wherever additional cooling control is required: at the print head to support material-specific cooling, at the hotend for improved temperature stability, or on the electronics themselves to dissipate heat under load. A typical application is in multicolor systems that have different cooling requirements at different positions.
The module requires an existing RAMPS-1.4 controller board whose firmware must already support two free fan pins. A power supply is required for each fan; the extender itself only controls the fan signals. The exact pins to be used must be coordinated with the installed firmware and its documentation before operation to avoid conflicts with other functions.
