The 4th generation offers groundbreaking improvements in processor speed, enabling smooth media playback. An update to the RAM and connectivity compared with the previous version, the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, has also been provided. Important features such as backward compatibility and similarly low power consumption have been carried over to the new generation.

For end users, the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B offers solid desktop performance comparable to entry-level regular office PCs.

Key features include a powerful 64-bit ARM v8 quad-core processor, 2 GB of ultra-fast LPDDR4 RAM, and support for up to two 4K displays via two micro-HDMI ports. Hardware video decoding up to 4K@60Hz is also supported. The board's networking capabilities are provided by dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) and a Gigabit Ethernet port.

The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B provides additional interfaces through two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and a fast Bluetooth 5.0 interface. By using an additional PoE (Power over Ethernet) HAT, the computer can also be powered via the LAN interface.
