Product description
The stereo 3D camera simultaneously captures depth data and color video using two synchronized sensor arrays. The stereo vision principle calculates spatial depth from the differences between the two sensor images. The USB-3.0 interface connects the camera directly to the computer, where image data and depth values are available as structured data streams.
The detection range extends from 0.4 to 3.0 meters. This enables use in indoor environments and workspaces, but excludes large open areas or long-distance measurements. The lack of calibration after delivery saves preparation time; the stereo geometry is fixed at the factory.
Use cases include robot navigation, obstacle detection in mobile systems, 3D capture for image processing, and motion detection in laboratory applications. Anyone prototyping a system with live depth processing, for example for person recognition or gesture recognition, can use the data immediately after USB transmission.
The camera requires a USB-3.0 port on the target computer and sufficient CPU capacity to process the real-time data streams. The manufacturer's corresponding software library is required for application development. At detection distances below 0.4 meters or above 3.0 meters, the stereo method does not work reliably.
