Product Description
A stepper motor conforming to the NEMA23 standard converts electrical pulses directly into rotary motion. With its four-phase design, it divides a complete revolution into more than 1500 steps when the 1/8-step resolution of the connected driver is used. This enables positioning without a gearbox or feedback.
The torque of 1.8 Nm is sufficient for medium loads; the rated current of 3 A per phase requires a driver with an adequate power supply. The compact body length of 76 mm also fits in confined installation spaces. Holding torque decreases as the speed increases, so fast and slow motion sequences must be calculated separately.
Motors like these are commonly used in gantry milling machines and for controlling linear stages, where three axes operate simultaneously. They are also found in labeling machines and automated dispensers, where an accurate step count ensures precise portioning. Laboratory automation systems for sample positioning and warehouse management systems likewise rely on this type of open-loop positioning control.
A suitable stepper motor driver, a power supply providing at least 24 V, and a control system (microcontroller or signal generator) are required. The parallel connection wires must be connected to the driver; reversing the polarity will immediately destroy both the motor and the driver stage.
