Product Description

This power module switches the heating currents of a 3D printer, not the mainboard itself. The reason is simple: The small connectors and traces on the controller board cannot withstand high heating currents over extended periods. They overheat, contacts burn, and the board is damaged. The module takes this load off the board and sits between the power supply, mainboard, and heated bed.

At its core, the module uses an HA210N06 power MOSFET with an integrated heatsink. An optocoupler with a bridge rectifier is connected upstream, isolating the weak control signal from the mainboard from the actual switch. This has two consequences: First, the connection direction of the control signal does not matter, regardless of whether positive or negative is connected first. Second, the module works with classic PWM heated-bed outputs as well as simple digital switching signals.

Power comes from the power supply; the screw terminals are labeled and accept 12 or 24 V. The heated bed or hotend is simply connected to the module, while the mainboard only provides the control signal. This allows 3D printers whose original MOSFET is not powerful enough to operate reliably with higher heating power.

The module does not require its own power supply; it uses the printer's power supply. For operation, a suitable power supply with sufficient output must be available; a 30 A power source is recommended to provide a safe reserve. The actual current is limited to 25 A by the circuit board and screw terminals, even though the HA210N06 chip itself can handle higher values.
