Product Description
The extruder set feeds filament into the heated print head of an FDM 3D printer. The stepper motor precisely controls the feed rate, allowing the material flow to be regulated layer by layer. The MK8 hotend reaches temperatures of up to 300 °C for common thermoplastics such as PLA and ABS.
The direct drive is mounted directly on the aluminum extruder body, providing short response paths during filament retraction and thereby reducing stringing, meaning unwanted plastic threads between printed parts. The 12 V operating voltage is compatible with most printer power supplies; the stepper motor requires a suitable driver, which must already be provided by the control system. The PTFE slider wears slowly and allows the filament to glide smoothly.
The set is suitable for replacing a worn extruder, upgrading to more powerful motors, or converting older printers to modern hotend standards. It is also typically used to repair printers with a damaged direct drive; the damaged assembly is replaced together with the motor and body without having to disassemble the entire system.
For installation, the power supply must be switched off and the printer must be cool. The control system requires an available motor output with a stepper motor driver and should already support heater cartridge control. The mounting area must provide sufficient space for the motor block, especially if a different extruder model was previously installed.
Safety Information
The extruder head is heated to over 200 °C and remains hot for a long time after printing. The system must cool down completely before maintenance or replacement. This set is intended exclusively for assembling and maintaining custom-built and project printers. Electrical work on power supplies and control boards may only be carried out by qualified electricians; if you are unsure, consult a qualified electrician before installation.
