Product description

This cleaning sponge removes solder beads, oxide and dirt from the soldering iron tip. The open-pore plastic foam reliably absorbs the material and does not release it again.

The sponge is moistened with water before soldering; it works significantly better when wet than when dry. When wiping the hot soldering iron, the water evaporates quickly without damaging the heating element. Clogged or scorched sponges can be replaced without damaging the soldering station.

The sponge can be used anywhere a soldering iron is used regularly, including electronics workshops, printed circuit board repair and prototype construction. Longer soldering sessions benefit from frequent cleaning, as heat transfer from the iron to the component is significantly improved.

The sponge is secured in the holder of the soldering station. It can be easily removed and replaced when it becomes hard and brittle after many cycles.

Safety notice

The sponge becomes wet and hot during soldering. Steam is produced, creating a risk of burns from steam, hot surfaces and hot water. The sponge is intended exclusively for testing and development purposes.
