Product description
Ribbon cables connect PCBs or modules with a large number of pins in a space-saving way. This 16-conductor cable with the smaller 1.27 mm pitch fits connectors with the same pitch and can, if required, be fitted with 2.54 mm connectors on both sides.
The flat structure enables installation in tight ducts and narrow housings where round cables do not fit. Because the cable consists of individual wires, individual conductors can be separated and stripped separately if all 16 connections are not needed.
The cable is suitable for connections between motherboards and expansion cards, between controller boards and sensor modules, or for wiring ribbon cable connectors in prototypes and test setups. It is also used for display connections and IDE-like interfaces.
A stripping block or ribbon cable crimping tool is required for processing. The current-carrying capacity depends on the wire cross-section and the current flow; for higher currents in the ampere range, the voltage drop should be checked.
