DIP IC socket - dual spring contacts, 7.62 mm, 6- to 24-pin
Description
Product Overview
- Socket for DIP ICs with dual spring contacts for secure, repeatable retention
- Available with several pin counts
- Wide contact surfaces reduce contact resistance
- Suitable for breadboards and prototyping boards
- Enables IC replacement without soldering
Product Description
This IC socket accommodates DIP packages and mechanically secures them using dual spring contacts. The dual-spring system on each pin presses the IC from both sides, increasing the contact area and reducing contact resistance. This results in a more reliable electrical connection and reduced wear during repeated insertion and removal.
The component fits standard prototyping boards and breadboards, where it can either be soldered or plugged in. The wide contact surface of each spring contact distributes pressure more evenly than single-pin sockets, increasing the service life of both contacts per pin. For prototyping and development with microcontrollers, operational amplifiers, or other common DIPs, this enables quick component replacement without soldering.
Applications include experimental setups in which ICs are frequently replaced, test benches for parametric testing of series-produced DIPs, and educational environments in which different logic ICs must fit into the same socket. The socket also enables rapid component changes in circuits with experimental or prototyping requirements. Additional requirements are limited to soldering materials and a board with pin headers or a direct solder pad for the socket itself.
Safety Information
This component is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. Work on or near electrical installations is reserved for qualified electricians; if in doubt, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
