Product description
A DIP socket with dual spring contacts provides secure seating for integrated circuits in DIP packages. The two parallel contact springs per connection produce significantly lower contact resistance than single contacts and ensure a stable electrical connection even after the fitted components have been replaced frequently.
The socket is soldered onto a stripboard and holds the IC at the correct height. The dual contacts distribute the pressure over a larger area, significantly reducing wear on the IC pins. This is particularly important when components are replaced multiple times, such as during prototyping or in experimental setups.
Typical applications include populating experimenter boards, building test circuits with frequent IC replacement, and prototype development in hobbyist and educational electronics. The socket allows circuits to be adapted flexibly without damaging solder joints.
The variants differ in the size of the DIP pitch, meaning the distance between the two rows of connection pins. Compatible integrated circuits must match this pitch. A socket can only be used if it matches the DIP format of the IC being used.
Safety notice
This component is intended exclusively for building prototypes as well as test and development circuits and is not intended for use on or in household electrical installations. Work on or near electrical installations is reserved for qualified electricians; if anything is unclear, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
