Product Description
This light sensor detects ambient brightness and provides the result as a digital signal. The sensor is suitable for projects where a simple on-off signal is sufficient, for example to distinguish between day and night or to trigger a warning when it becomes critically dark.
The sensor uses a photodiode whose resistance changes with light intensity. The integrated comparator module compares this change with a set threshold and outputs a clear digital signal. The 5 V operating voltage enables direct connection to Arduino boards and similar microcontrollers without additional electronics.
The light sensor can be used in automatic lighting controls, for example to switch on a light at dusk. It also reliably supports safety applications, such as turning on an LED as soon as it becomes too dark. The onboard LED indicates that the sensor is responding, making troubleshooting easier during development.
The sensor requires an available digital input pin and is connected via the included ribbon cable. The threshold can be adjusted to suit the installation location using a potentiometer on the module. An external power supply is not necessary because the sensor receives its operating voltage directly from the Arduino board.
Safety Information
This module is intended exclusively for building prototypes and for testing and development purposes. It is not suitable for connection to household electrical systems. When connecting it, make sure the ribbon cable is correctly polarized. If you are unsure how to integrate it into a project, consult a qualified electrician before commissioning.
