Product description

This infrared set enables wireless remote control of electronics projects. The receiver decodes the 38 kHz modulation of a standard remote control and outputs the button codes as digital pulses using the NEC protocol, which can be processed directly by a microcontroller.

The module has only three connections: power, ground, and data output. With an operating voltage of 3.3 V or 5 V, it is compatible with common development boards. The active-LOW output provides pulse sequences that a suitable software library converts into readable button codes. The included 17-button remote control is powered by a CR2025 button cell battery and transmits up to 8 meters within a reception angle of 60 degrees.

In addition to the receiver, the set also includes an IR LED for transmitting your own infrared signals. This allows you not only to receive control signals, but also to generate them yourself, for example to control other devices automatically or to build your own remote controls. Typical applications range from simple light or fan control to remotely controlling robot movements.

Operation requires a microcontroller with digital inputs and outputs, as well as a decoding library for the NEC protocol. The 8-meter range makes the set suitable for room distances; beyond that, reliability decreases significantly.
